We started with a very wide but very short house. Although semi-detached, it is not what we could class as an English-style town house. We decided to create an open-plan ground floor for this couple and their child. The land was not suitable for a courtyard, so we built a large terrace on the first floor. We connected the floors with a tall six-metre-high window that generates a huge sense of space and fills the house with light.
